A little bit about Christopher Linton-Willoughby
Thursday March 2017
Following on from our last Draw, one of our winners Christopher Linton-Willoughby will fill you in on a little about himself…
40 years as a Sponsorship Consultant is bound to have some strange highlights: I was on the organising team for London’s first Marathon in 1980, responsible for closing London streets for a non-Royal event. Sorry to all those marathon runners who hate the Isle of Dogs loop on today’s course: it was Sir Horace Cutler’s one condition for support from the Greater London Council, that the world should see there the potential real estate on the City’s doorstep. Well, at least it’s flat….
In the 1980s, I handled publicity for the World Speedsailing Championships at Portland Harbour. Consecutive events were i) a complete failure as there was flat calm for 7 days and then ii) literally blown off the beach, when hurricane force winds arrived overnight. C’est la vie!
